Frequently Asked Questions

Is there parking available at The Stacks?

Cars can park for free on the store side of Waters Avenue right out front. There is also free street parking on both Maupas and 40th street. Please note that you should not park in the grassy lot next to The Stacks, as it is not ours.

Is the store accessible for people with disabilities?

We have implemented a number of features to be as accessible as possible to our customers. To enter the store, we have a low-grade ramp to the entrance and a push-button automatic door opener.

We are able to turn off lights and music upon request. Our signs inside the store are all in high-contrast colors and dyslexia-friendly font. We have seating around the store and two lower counter heights for checkout perfect for those who are seated.

We also can order books in large print and sell both e-books and audiobooks. We are happy to provide any additional accommodations or answer specific accessibility questions at any time!

I am a local author and have written a book. Will you carry it?

If you are a traditionally published author, feel free to contact us through our contact form to inform us of your book (please include the ISBN number). If you are a self-published author or have published with a small indie press, please see our blog post on the process.

I am a local author. Can I do a book signing at your shop?

If you're interested in hosting an event at The Stacks you can fill out our Author Event Request Form.

I want to know if you carry a specific book. How do I find out?

When you search for a title on our homepage, it will show you if that title is currently on our shelves. If the book you want is not listed as available, you can order it through our site and we will get it in the shop for you within 3-5 business days.

Do you sell or buy used books?

We only carry new books. We do give away used books for free in front of our store and those books are supplied by donations from neighbors and friends. We're happy to take a donation if you're just looking to get rid of some old books but if you're interested in selling your books, there are a number of bookstores in town that buy and sell used books who would be happy to help you.
